With over two decades dedicated to migration and social inclusion, Dr. Benoy Peter is a distinguished expert at the forefront of positive change. As Co-founder and Executive Director of the Centre for Migration and Inclusive Development (CMID), he has played a pivotal role in shaping policies and initiatives. Armed with a Ph.D. in Population Sciences, Dr. Peter’s influence extends globally. He guided the action plan for Bangladesh’s National Strategy on Internal Displacement and headed technical support for Jharkhand’s Safe and Responsible Migration Initiative at CMID.A leader in innovative solutions, Dr. Peter served as the Technical Director for a UNDP-funded project responding to COVID-19 and migration in Odisha. His role as a consultant for USAID India’s Samagra project highlights his commitment to improving health outcomes for the urban poor. Instrumental in launching India’s first active mobile COVID-19 screening unit, the Bandhu Clinic, Dr. Peter later pioneered the introduction of the first mobile COVID vaccination unit for migrant workers. His extensive experience includes collaborations with governments, civil society, and international organizations. As the lead author of “God’s Own Workforce: Unravelling Labour Migration to Kerala,” Dr. Benoy Peter’s contributions to understanding labor migration dynamics are significant. His humanitarian efforts extend globally, involving the repatriation of stranded laborers and providing technical support to programs in multiple countries.
