Dr. S. Irudaya Rajan, a distinguished academician and researcher with close to 40 years of post-graduate experience, is a prominent figure in the field of migration and development. He served as a Former Professor at the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Kerala, and currently holds the position of Chair at the International Institute for Migration and Development, India.Dr. Rajan plays a pivotal role in global migration initiatives as the Chair of the KNOMAD (The Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development) World Bank working group on internal migration and urbanization. His extensive expertise in the field has led him to contribute significantly to advising the Government of Kerala on matters related to the COVID-19 pandemic. His scholarly contributions extend across various dimensions of migration, as evidenced by his publications in international journals. His work delves into the social, economic, demographic, psychological, and political implications of migration on individuals, communities, the economy, and society at large.
